The National Hotels and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM), in collaboration with Visit Maldives and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), has successfully concluded the I AM Maldives roadshow across three Central and Eastern European cities; Warsaw, Bucharest, and Prague from November 17-21, 2025.
The roadshow brought together 26 participating properties representing the full diversity of Maldives tourism, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards, and travel agents. Over the course of three events, more than 150 travel professionals from Poland, along with agents from Romania and Czech Republic, participated in B2B networking sessions and presentations focused on community-led tourism initiatives in the Maldives.
NHGAM aimed to promote community-led tourism as a key focus across the CEE region, while also showcasing the full spectrum of Maldivian tourism products. Travel agents gained knowledge about authentic local island experiences, sustainable tourism practices, luxury resort offerings, and the diverse range of accommodation and activity options available throughout the Maldives.
Across the three cities, 42 raffle prizes were awarded, including complimentary holiday packages that will allow winning agents to experience the Maldives firsthand. Industry participants expressed satisfaction with the event's organization and the valuable business connections established.
"The success of this roadshow demonstrates the growing interest in authentic Maldivian experiences," said Abdulla Nasheed, President of NHGAM. "Travel agents are now equipped with detailed knowledge about community-led tourism options, which opens new opportunities for travelers seeking genuine cultural connections alongside our renowned natural beauty."
The CEE market represents significant growth potential for Maldivian tourism, with Poland contributing 23,089 arrivals, Czech Republic 17,779 arrivals, and Romania 13,824 arrivals as of end of September 2025. NHGAM continues to actively promote the destination across emerging markets to support the national tourism arrival target of 2.3 million visitors in 2025.
This marks the second successful roadshow under the I AM Maldives brand, following last year's initiative in Georgia and Azerbaijan, NHGAM is planning new activities to promote the destination for next year as well, reinforcing the association's commitment to expanding the Maldives' presence in markets worldwide.
