At Maadhoo Island, the Champagne never stops flowing. And, this year there’s a stunning floating Christmas tree built entirely from recycled champagne bottles to light up the lagoon.

The 30ft high Christmas tree is built using over 2400 recycled champagne bottles. It took 18 days of passionate building to create this engineering feat – the tallest floating tree of the year in the Maldives.

On Tuesday (December 22) at 6pm a grand tree lighting ceremony kicked off the December festivities in style. This magical celebration by the lagoon was followed by a swinging party night with Disco and DJ.

Santa visits the island every year on Christmas day bringing good tidings and cheer. From Festivities Card Making and Kayak Race to Sunrise Yoga on Dhoani and an Arabian Theme Night, there’s something for everyone here. Spirits continue to stay high at Maadhoo Island, with a wonderful lineup of activities and parties leading up to a grand celebration on New Year’s Day.

Maadhoo Island is situated in South Malé Atoll - just a short 45-minute luxury speedboat ride away from Malé International Airport. The perfectly North-South Island of Maadhoo with guest villas facing due east and west offer stunning Sunrises and even more amazing Sunset views. The large pristine lagoon overlooking the horizon, with exotic marine life all around offers the discerning traveler a true Maldives island experience.
