Maldives Participates in the Tourism Recovery Summit Held in Riyad, Saudi Arabia

Representing the Maldives, Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has participated in the Tourism Recovery Summit held in Riyad, Saudi Arabia. World’s top industry leaders and decision makers joined the summit to discuss the most critical issues facing the restart and sustainable recovery of the industry. 

During an open panel discussion, Minister Mausoom updated the delegates of Maldives tourism recovery and further strategies to improve traveler confidence.  

On the sidelines of the Tourism Recovery Summit, Minister Mausoom met with a few industry decision makers to discuss tourism collaborative works for further development of tourism across various regions. Speaking with H.E Zayed R. Alzayani Minister of Industry, Commerce & Tourism, Bahrain and Chairman of Gulf Air, Minister Mausoom proposed a Bahrain, Maldives dual destination holiday offer targeted for the European market. 

While during his meeting with Senior Vice President & Acting CEO of WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council), Maribel Rodríguez, both parties discussed possible areas for collaboration between the Maldives and WTTC. 

The summit closed with remarks from Princess Haifa Al Saud, Assistant Minister for Tourism, calling for action “to make the future of tourism more resilient, more sustainable and to strengthen international collaboration.”
