Qatar Airways Now Operates 3 Daily Flights to Maldives

Qatar Airways will be operating additional two flights to Velana International Airport starting December 10, 2020 onwards. According to the latest announcement by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the airline will be operating total three daily flights to the Maldives. 

With the increase in frequency of several airlines over the past two months, Minister Abdulla Mausoom expects Maldives to reach the target of 100,000 tourist arrivals by December 16, since the reopening of borders in the month of July. 

Qatar Airways’ onboard safety measures for passengers and cabin crew include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and a complimentary protective kit and disposable face shields for passengers. Visitors to the Maldives are granted a 30-day free on-arrival visa with a confirmed booking for a stay at any registered tourist facility in the country. Before traveling to Maldives, an online health declaration form is to be filled within 24 hours prior to departure to Maldives. A negative COVID-19 PCR test is also required which is conducted 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.  

Further to this, tourists are encouraged to use the contact tracing app “TraceEkee” and if in isolation/quarantine, they are required to register on “Haalu Belun” portal.
