Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Dhawa Ihuru and Angsana Velavaru observed World Food Day on October 16, 2023 with meaningful awareness initiatives involving associates and guests.

World Food Day is an annual event celebrated globally, which calls for collaborative efforts to ensure that no one sleeps hungry, emphasising the importance of food security and nutrition for a better world. This year’s theme is “Water is life, Water is food. Leave no one behind.”

As part of the Banyan Tree Group, a trailblazer in sustainable tourism focusing on the purpose-driven mission of stewardship, the sister resorts consistently demonstrated a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, striving to blend luxury with eco-consciousness. Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru initiated the day with a morning planting activity. Later in the day, a captivating "Zero Waste Challenge" unfolded, demonstrating the properties' dedication to reducing food waste and promoting eco-friendly practices. Associates also had the opportunity to embark on a delectable journey through the "Most Wanted National Desserts," celebrating unity in diversity.

Angsana Velavaru launched the thought-provoking "Empty Plate Challenge," encouraging associates and guests alike to appreciate their meals and minimise food waste, aligning with the group's broader eco-conscious efforts.
