New High Commissioner of South Africa and New Ambassadors of Indonesia & Egypt Presents Credentials to President

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing, H.E. Sandile Edwin Schalk, the new Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, and H.E. Maged Mosleh, the new non-resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Maldives on Tuesday presented their credentials to H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. 

The President and the Ambassador H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing spoke extensively to further strengthen Maldives-Indonesia relations and other mutually concerning issues. President Solih spoke with her about the decades-long history of the relationship between the two countries. He asserted that the close ties were primarily due to close people-to-people contact. He then expressed his hopes of increasing bilateral consultations to further explore new avenues of cooperation to solidify the partnership. 

Speaking with the High Commissioner H.E. Sandile Edwin Schalk, President Solih stated that the Maldives is committed to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. The High Commissioner expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Maldives on international fronts, echoing President Solih’s sentiments. 

President also conveyed his gratitude to the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, and his government for the continued support and assistance to the Maldives, during the meeting with Ambassador, H.E. Maged Mosleh. The President also expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian government for its continuous support in the academic and human resource development fields and highlighted the crucial role played by Al-Azhar University in increasing higher education opportunities for Maldivian students. The President and the Ambassador also discussed increasing scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students in various fields.
