September holds a special place for the team at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, an IHG hotel, as they join thousands of IHG colleagues worldwide in dedicating the month to community service through the annual IHG Giving for Good initiative.
“IHG has hotels spanning more than 100 countries, and it’s this global reach that makes Giving for Good so impactful,” said Sharon Garrett, Director of Marketing & Sustainability, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives.
“Together, we’re working towards IHG’s ambitious goal of improving the lives of 30 million people as part of our Journey to Tomorrow 10-year action plan.”
Garrett explained that Giving for Good allows every colleague to contribute meaningfully, knowing their actions locally form part of a much larger movement.
“It is tremendously rewarding to know that what you are doing in your own community is having such a profound and positive impact. This year, instead of trying to measure our efforts in dollar terms, we tracked them in team hours. At Kandooma alone, our colleagues dedicated 308 hours across the month.”
The activities were varied and heartfelt. The resort’s outreach programme engaged every department and included walks for peace, blood donations, lagoon cleanups, donations and maintenance support for local schools, and visits to orphanages and special needs homes. In total, nine separate initiatives were delivered throughout September.
IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow guides each property to operate responsibly and align with global goals around people, communities, and the planet. “Together with our guests, business partners, and colleagues, we are committed to shaping the future of responsible travel and ensuring that we deliver on IHG’s overarching purpose of True Hospitality for Good,” Garrett added.
