The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) and the National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) with support from Coca-Cola Maldives has shown an outstanding example of community support and dedication with providing food for locals and expats during this ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

All residing in Capital Male are faced with a challenging situation in lockdown leading to the difficulty in securing food and other necessary supplies. Especially, during the holy month of Ramadan, hundreds of individuals are left without shelter and a consistent source of sustenance.

Together with the Malé Aerated Water Company (Coca-Cola), the two associations are currently providing required meal sets for 500 of these individuals located at shelters under the guidance of authorities. This service will go on for 30 days till the end of Ramadan. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions and other challenges, food is prepared and delivered for every meal time in coordination with focal points and support from Salsa Catering, says MATATO.

Since the start of this service, 5,000 meal packages have been delivered and over the coming 30 days of Ramadan, 30,000 meal packages are estimated to be produced and delivered.

Doors are open for those interested and working in areas of logistics, delivery and sourcing to support and make any contributions to this service.
