Hurawalhi Maldives hosted a group of students from the Nature Club of Naifaru school Madhrasathul Ifthithaal for an exposure session on the resorts commitment to a healthy and clean environment.

On August 26th, students from the Nature Club of Naifaru school Madhrasathul Ifthithaah joined Hurawalhi Maldives  with the goal of becoming familiar with the resorts commitment to a healthy and clean environment.

"August 26th saw an invigorating portion of laughter, curiosity and excitement as seventeen students from the Nature Club of Naifaru school Madhrasathul Ifthithaah" said the resort in a statement

Starting out with a presentation on sustainability in the Maldives, Lisa Bauer, resident marine biologist at Hurawalhi, familiarised the inquisitive youngsters with Hurawalhis green initiatives like glass-bottled water, solar panels, greenhouses and rainwater capture system, which are some of the eco-oriented practices and facilities Hurawalhi is proud to have. In addition to focusing on the resorts efforts, Lisa also shared several ideas about ways to reduce plastic waste in everyday life.

After the presentation, Bandara, Hurawalhis landscaping manager, and Lisa took the group on a nature walk around the island, during which the students and their teachers were acquainted with both indigenous Maldivian plants and the introduced ones. Bandara shared his extensive knowledge on plants and landscaping, wowing the group with his career highlights, love of nature and the beauty of his gardening projects alike.Mr. Bandara introduces students to local flora present within the resort.

Bandara kindly donated two boxes of plants to the students as an encouragement for their upcoming gardening competition; they have until the end of October to plant the most beautiful garden, and surely received plenty of inspiration from their visit.
