Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives are hosting ‘Hour of Code @Let’sCodeMV 2023’ across the Maldives. ‘Hour of Code’ is a global event held to mark the International Computer Science Week, celebrated worldwide every year in December.

The programme is endorsed by the Ministry of Education and aims to reach over 1000 students across the Maldives. The participants will be grouped according to different age groups and facilitators will be organising fun, introductory activities to learners of all skill levels, from pre–school to all educational levels to inspire participants and bring the spotlight on the importance of computer science education.

This year’s main ‘Hour of Code’ event is scheduled to be held on December 16, 2023, while physical guiding sessions will be carried out till December 20, 2023.

Interested participants can register for the programme through this link: https://www.womenintechmv.org.Individuals, schools, organisations, or institutes can register to participate in the ‘Hour of Code’ programme. Members from Dhiraagu, Women in Tech Maldives, and schoolteachers will be mentoring and guiding the participants throughout the ‘Hour of Code @Let’sCodeMV 2023’.

This programme, first introduced by Code.org, is part of the global movement reaching tens of millions of students in over 180 countries through a one-hour introduction to computer programming in a fun way. Women in Tech Maldives is the international partner of Code.org, and Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have been successfully conducting the programme in the Maldives over the past years.

‘Hour of Code’ is a great way to introduce students of all ages to coding and spark interest in computer science. Starting to learn computer science at an early age is the foundation for success in every field in the 21st century, which can also increase their creativity and problem-solving abilities and skills.
