Vakkaru Maldives Celebrates International Engineering Week

International Engineering Week concludes at Vakkaru Maldives with a competitive Engineering Exhibition. The resort witnessed innovation and creativity from team members of various departments. 

The celebration of National Engineers Week was started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers in conjunction with the first President of the United States, George Washington's birthday. The purpose of National Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make. It is also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills.





The winners of the exhibition are Halloluwage Sumith Krishantha, Ubhaya Wijaya Kumara Kolonthanne Archchilage and Mohamed Sharfeez amazed the crowd with their Vakkaru 1 helicopter, using recycled materials from a wooden ceiling fan as the propellers of the green and black helicopter. Mohamed Sharfeez and Ahmed Ali Didi took back the runner up prize with their simple yet elegant wooden light.

In addition to the exhibition, the week included a friendly football match, facility tours and a cool-off swim session among the hardworking teams.
