Ooredoo Maldives Celebrates 17th Year Anniversary with Expansion of 5G Network Across Greater Malé

In line with its vision to enrich the lives of its customers through cutting edge digital technologies, Ooredoo Maldives today announced its expansion of 5G network in Greater Male’ including Male’, Villimale, Hulhumale’ Phase 1 and Hulhule, at a special press conference held at Meerumaa to celebrate the company’s 17 years of journey in the Maldives. 

With this expansion, Ooredoo Maldives also introduced special offers for 5G customers offering massive data allowances to enable customers to enjoy the superfast speeds of 5G. The company also announced that customers using SuperNet AirFibre 5G Plans can now enjoy fast speeds of up to 5Mbps, even after utilizing their allocated data allowance.

Catering to this need, Ooredoo Maldives was the first to commercially launch 5G services via Ooredoo AirFibre, a first in the market 5G Broadband service. The massive mobile data benefits introduced for Ooredoo 5G customers include: 

- Special 5G plans for prepaid customers on Ooredoo Prepaid, Aachaa Prepaid and Magey Plan, offering double data bonuses to enjoy the superfast speeds of 5G. 

- Double data bonus for Ooredoo Postpaid 800 and above, providing huge data allowances to enable a better experience for 5G customers. 

To meet the evolving digital needs of customers in terms of internet speeds, data usage, latency and better video experience, Ooredoo Maldives was the first operator in Maldives to have rolled out 4G network nationwide and upgraded its transmission network to full IP, enabling everyone on the Ooredoo network to enjoy a great data experience.  

Similarly, Ooredoo Maldives was also the first Ooredoo company to have been granted a 5G spectrum license in February 2018. The commercial launch of 5G services in the Maldives with the roll out of 5G Services & 5G AirFibre - the 1st 5G Broadband Service in Maldives was a great milestone in our journey to Digital Maldives.
