Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced the country’s first Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower Simulator in the Maldives.

MACL’s acting Deputy Chief Officer Ibrahim Thoha inaugurated the tower simulator during a special ceremony held on Tuesday. The new addition will help provide trainings for air traffic staff without having to move out the country to attain further knowledge in the field.

The MVR 4 million worth simulator has the capacity to oversee all currently operating airports and is expected to greatly minimize the training cost for tower control trainings and future programs. It can also simulate an area of up to 50 miles.

The ATC Tower Simulator was established at Velana International Airport by Micro Nav Limited, a UK company with over 33 years of experience in installations of such equipment and services.
