Mr. Yazeed Mohamed, The Maldives Tax Commissioner, won the award for Asia Tax Commissioner of the Year in recognition of his work on SMEs, training the leaders of tomorrow and digitalising tax filling in the Maldives.

Competing for the recognition received by Mr. Yazeed Mohamed for his work throughout the year of 2017, were tax commissioners from Australia, Singapore, China and Hongkong.

This award is given by a special panel of judges appointed by ITR after evaluating the performance and work accomplished by the Tax Commissioners in 2017.

The awards were held at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel in Singapore on May 3. Companies, firms and individuals had the opportunity between November and January to make submissions to be considered for the awards.
