Maldives breaks the World Record for most people free-diving simultaneously

Maldives has broken the World Record for the most people free-diving simultaneously. President Mohamed Solih joined 520 others in simultaneous free-diving off the lagoon of Baros.

The event "Neyvaa" was arranged by the Ministry of Tourism as part of Tourism Day celebrations. President Mohamed Solih and the participants had gone under for around thirty seconds.



Willian Trubidge a double world record holder with the title of free-diving World Champion born in New Zealand participated in this grand event.

Prior to the event, 'La Scuola del Mare 2' (Verona) in Torri del Benaco held the World Record with 280 particiants on 11 October 2009.

Officials from Guinness World Records present at the site declared the previous record was broken and presented the official certificate to President Solih.
