Maldives Records 4,856 Tourist Arrivals in a Single Day

Maldives has yet again proved its successful tourism recovery by welcoming a record number of daily tourist arrivals in a single day.  

Maldives set the new record with 4,856 tourist arrivals on February 14, 2021. Currently, a total of 138, 912 tourists have arrived to the Maldives since January this year. According to further statistics of Ministry of Tourism, for the month of February, the average number of tourists per day consists of 3,087 arrivals.  

With Russian market in the lead, the top three source market for tourist arrivals includes India and the United Kingdom. Other top markets include Ukraine, Germany, United States, France, Kazakhstan, Romania and United Arab Emirates.  

Previously, Minister Mausoom revealed plans of commencing ‘Vaccine Tourism’ in the Maldives. The new initiative is expected to help reach the island nation’s aim to welcome 1.5 million tourists in 2021. Additionally, several frontline employees of the industry have participated in the vaccination drive, receiving their doses.  

Currently, there is no mandatory quarantine for arrival but all tourists are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours prior to departure and submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, conducted maximum 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.
