Maldives Featured in Conde Nast Traveller Readers Travel Awards 2017

Maldives has been named amongst the the best islands in the world" and subsequently ranked amongst the top 15 winners for the ultimate travel top 100 in the readers travel awards 2017.

The annual awards ceremony was held at the Ham Yard Hotel in central London on September 4, 2017. The award was accepted by the Maldives Ambassador to the UK, Ahmed Shiaan.

We have worked hard to remain the world standard in holiday luxury, and its wonderful to see that travellers appreciate how much our nation has to offer." said shiaan

According to Conde Nast Traveller the Readers Travel Awards celebrates the most incredible travel experiences, as voted by people who will go the ends of the earth to find them : the readers of Conde Nast Traveller. 

Readers vote for the things that they love most about travel including favourite countries, cities, islands, ski resorts ; readers pick of the worlds top hotels and spas ; Airline, airports, cruise lines, villa rental company and tour operator choice before rating them all out of 100. 

Afterwards over at Conde Nast traveller all the numbers are crunched together in a very complicated scoring system that determines the very best travel experiences in the world.

The scores calculate the average mark according to various criteria such as service, design, culture and value for money and are then used to rank readers favourite travel experiences. The scores are percentages representing overall average levels of satisfaction.The Maldives scored 91.04 and ranked 14 amongst the top 20 winners of the top 20 best travel experiences.

"These are the best of the best that the travel world has to offer, from countries and islands to hotels and airlines, as voted for by you." reed a statement by Conde Nast Traveller.

Furthermore the Maldives was listed as the fourth most desirable island in the world to be cast away on by making it on the top 20 readers list of the best islands in the world.

"The United Kingdom is a crucial part of the Maldives tourism industry, and we are thrilled to receive this award in one of our most important markets." said Moosa Zameer, Minister for Tourism, Maldives 

"The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation and the Maldives Embassy in London have worked hard to promote our islands to the British people, and this achievement is a reflection of that effort. Its exciting to see that we are still one the worlds favourite holiday destinations."

Condé Nast Traveller was started in 1997. The magazine runs several industry-recognized awards, the most important being the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Awards, which take place every year. Other annual awards include the Readers' Spa Awards, The Gold List (most luxurious hotels) and The Hot List (best new hotels).
