Visit Maldives successfully concluded a marketing campaign in collaboration with Profi.Travel targeting the Russian and CIS market. The collaboration helped commence an E-Learning platform for tour operators in Russia and CIS countries.

The primary objective of the platform is to encourage tour operators in Russia and CIS region to increase bookings to the Maldives. The E-Learning platform is tailored to provide a comprehensive overview of the Maldives and assisted tour operators on how to select the best travel options for customers. Over 2000 tour operators from the Russian and CIS region took part in the E-Learning platform.

Profi.Travel is media holding company with over 20 years of experience in the tourism markets within the Russian and CIS countries. The company specializes in digital marketing of tourist products and travel destinations in B2B and B2C segments utilizing the most advanced advertising technologies.

The collaboration with Profi.Travel was deeply important to the Maldivian tourism industry. Training over 2000 tour operators on information regarding the Maldives will have positive consequences for the years to come. Furthermore, it also provided an opportunity for the Maldives to update tour agents in one of the largest source markets for the Maldives, the Russian market. 280 bookings were recorded as a result of the campaign.

Agents who completed the training with the highest number of bookings were awarded holidays sponsored by Furaveri Maldives, Paradise Island Resort and Grand Park Kodhipparu. The winning agents are from LLC, Kazan, London-Paris, Rostov-onDon, PLANETA Travel, and Perm.

The Russian market is the second largest source market to the Maldives. The Maldives has welcomed a total of over 79,000 travelers from the Russian market since reopening borders. Several marketing plans are planned to maintain destination presence and promote the Maldives as a safe travel destination to Russian and CIS market.
