Sri Lanka secures Two awards at World Travel Awards 2019

Sri Lanka takes home two awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) held at Vinepearl Convention Center in PhuQuoc, Vietnam.

The awards won at the World Travel Awards held for the 26th consecutive year includes, "Asias Leading Adventure Tourism Destination" and "Asias Leading Emerging Tourism Destination Colombo". Sri Lanka emerged in the Asia and Oceania category for the first time as "Asias Leading Emerging Tourism Destination – Colombo" while it was the 3rd consecutive nomination for "Asias Leading Adventure Tourism Destination".

This accomplishment showcases the potential Sri Lanka has as a destination to offer for guests with its natural resources, cultural and heritage sites with scenic wonders. Sri Lankas distinctive natural and cultural diversity allures travelers in for a sensational experience.

The awards ceremony was held to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality, and the winners are selected by voters all around the world for the Award. 

Graham Cooke, Founder, WTA said, "it has been an honor to host WTA at the Vinepearl Convention Center PhuQuoc and we have had the privilege of recognizing many of the leading hotels, airlines and hospitality providers from across Asia and Oceania and my congratulations to each of them". 

WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Its annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the global industry.
