On the occasion of the 50th year of Maldives Tourism, Taj Hotels was recognised for its contribution in elevating the archipelago nation to the world’s leading destination. The honour was received at an Appreciation Awards Ceremony held by the Ministry of Tourism at Crossroads Maldives, followed by a gala dinner at Male city. The event was graced by His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the President of the Maldives, His Excellency Vice President Faisal Naseem, Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, cabinet ministers, lawmakers, international dignitaries, and representatives from the tourism trade. The dignitaries acknowledged the vital roles played by institutions – including the United Nations and the Health Protection Agency – and companies that have worked together to elevate the tourism success of the pristine archipelago nation.

Taj Hotels is honoured to receive this prestigious award and will continue to extend the heartfelt warmth of our signature hospitality and values to Maldives, which has evolved from just a handful of hotels in 1972 to 115 luxury resorts and a 2 million tourist arrivals target for 2023. As the world’s strongest hotel brand for the second year in a row and South Asia’s most iconic company, this recognition strengthens Taj’s commitment to operational excellence, while exceeding the expectations of both guests and the global tourism sector.

The strategic location of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Taj Coral Reef Resort - close to Male International Airport – has given us an opportunity to work strongly with the authorities. From hosting guests through the Covid pandemic to complying with government protocols and joining hands on several initiatives, Taj is grateful for the opportunity to have demonstrated its core brand values - building trust in our stakeholders and a keen awareness of the community.

The golden jubilee celebration of Maldives tourism is an excellent opportunity to reiterate our promise to the sparkling success and preservation of this sublime island nation. In this year itself, Taj has pioneered an industry-first worldwide programme Paathya, focused on Environmental Stewardship, Social Responsibility, Excellence in Governance, Preserving Heritage, Value Chain Transformation, and Sustainable Growth.

Taj’ ambitious global vision matches the drive of Maldives Tourism as they continue to extend their full support and initiative in working together to delight tourists across the world with the sunshine charm of the ‘dream destination’.
