Dhiraagu hosted a special event to celebrate a historic national milestone, the successful completion of 100% high-speed fibre broadband coverage across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. With this achievement, Dhiraagu becomes the first and only service provider in the country to reach this significant landmark.

The special event was attended by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusaan, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, government dignitaries, senior officials of organisations, city council members and stakeholders, along with Dhiraagu Board Directors, senior management team.

With this achievement, Dhiraagu now has the largest high-speed data network in the nation with the widest coverage, providing fibre broadband internet access to all households in every inhabited island in the Maldives. This milestone also places the Maldives among the few countries in the world to achieve 100% Fibre-to-the-Home coverage. It paves the way for more digitally inclusive island communities, enabling enhanced connectivity and greater opportunities to excel in a digitally connected world. In addition to this, this achievement marks a significant stride towards realizing the government’s vision of a ‘smart nation’ as well as enhancing the quality of internet services across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest for the event, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusaan stated “Dhiraagu is the company that has truly connected the nation, becoming the first to deliver high-speed fibre broadband services to every inhabited island across the Maldives. This historic milestone is a source of national pride.
