The Executive Committee of the newly formed Maldives Association of Souvenir Shops has met with Minister of Tourism Dr Abdulla Mausoom to discuss souvenir related business.

During the meeting, members’ discussion focused on paving a way for better opportunities for souvenir business community and enhancing local souvenir production.

According to business owners, there have been challenges on allowing tourists to move around across Maldives islands due to new normal practices and strict regulations implemented to control the spread of the virus. This has affected many businesses including souvenir shops in Male’ and local islands for those who visits from resorts, safari boats, or assented liners and guest houses.

But as several properties are getting all their staff fully-vaccinated, the situation has improved with eased restrictions for visiting tourists.
