Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has released a special report on the "Importance of Destination Marketing"

the report was officially released by the association's President, Abdulla Giyas on an exclusive industry stakeholder get together organized by MATATO to celebrate World Tourism Day on 27th September 2017 evening.

The report on the "importance of destination marketing" reveals detailed explanations on the challenges and obstacles that the tourism sector of the Maldives faces while a comparison of rival markets like Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Seychelles were detailed as well.

The report also highlights the revenue generated from inbound visitors of the top 14 countries visiting the Maldives, as well as a detailed visitor count.

Speaking at the event held at Hulule Island Hotel Mr. Giyas addressed the importance of destination marketing and underlined how taking strong action in promoting Maldives as a destination is required to restrict the swaying of the current position of Maldives in the worldwide tourism industry.

Giyas had spoken about strengthening destination marketing in several previous forums, also titled "Importance of Destination Marketing" which, extensively discusses the benefits and advantages of advertising Maldives as a tourist destination more globally.

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) is a non-profit organization that has been working the last ten years to foster and promotes SMEs of local travel agents.

The association has engaged themselves in various activities over the years from advocacy, training, and workshops, travel trade fairs in many parts of the world, media FAM trips, government lobbying, recognition programs such as Awards, travel conferences and forums, publications, destination marketing, whistle-blower programs, representation and much more.
