Muni Foundation and Fushifaru Maldives to Host Plastic Aa Nulaa Event in Hulhumale, Advocating for No Single-Use Plastic

Plastic pollution has become a pressing global issue, and in response, an event organised by Muni Foundation together with Fushifaru Maldives, "Plastic Aa Nulaa," is set to take place in Central Park, Hulhumale on April 29, 2024. This event aims to gather individuals, communities, and organisations towards the cause of eliminating single-use plastic, protecting our marine life and fostering a more sustainable way of living.

Plastic Aa Nulaa, which translates to "No to Plastic" in Dhivehi, is a movement towards a cleaner, greener future. Organised by Muni Foundation and Fushifaru Maldives, with the support of governmental bodies and corporate sponsors, this event promises to be a catalyst for change. Fushifaru has implemented a range of green initiatives, including a coral propagation project, the elimination of single-use plastic bags, planting trees and promoting sustainable cooking practices with a chef's garden. The resort has been commended for its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, preserve marine life and support the local community.

Muni Foundation, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to environmental conservation, together with Fushifaru initiate Plastic Aa Nulaa. With a mission to create a more sustainable future for all, Muni Foundation has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at preserving natural ecosystems and reducing environmental impact.

Ooredoo, a leading telecommunications company in The Maldives, has stepped forward as the gold sponsor of Plastic Aa Nulaa. With a commitment to corporate social responsibility, Ooredoo has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.

The bronze sponsors, La Linker and Transmaldivian Airways (TMA), have also demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement by conyributing to this cause. Fushifaru would also like to thank the venue sponsors HDC and Parley as well as the set-up sponsor Island Chief for their invaluable contributions.

The event will feature a diverse range of activities and initiatives designed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of single-use plastics on our environment and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.

Plastic Aa Nulaa will feature distinguished speakers from various fields:

These speakers will offer valuable perspectives during Plastic Aa Nulaa, inspiring attendees to take meaningful action towards a sustainable future.

In addition to raising awareness and promoting sustainable alternatives, Plastic Aa Nulaa will also facilitate community action through a beach cleanup during the morning of April 29, 2024.
