The winners of the regions most prestigious travel awards
were announced on 12th September 2019 at an exclusive presentation luncheon at the Island
Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
The Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards is now
in its 28th year and continues to celebrate the best in the travel and
hospitality industry as voted by some of the regions most qualified judges:
the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific readers.
These 30,000-plus individuals are frequent travellers
taking an average of 19 business trips a year, and their views provide valuable
industry feedback.
Between April and June, Business Traveller Asia-Pacific
sent out a voting poll to subscribers, with the results independently compiled
by market research company Business Intelligence.
Today, the airports, hotels, airlines and destinations that
have most impressed this discerning audience have been crowned as the winners
of their category.
Singapore Airlines was once again a major winner, winning
the overall award for Best Airline in the World and Best
Asia-Pacific Airline for the 19th year running. The airline also held on
to the awards for: Best First Class and Best Economy Class,
while Qatar Airways picked up the Best Business Class award
this year. Singapore Airlines also won Best Premium Economy
Class and claimed the prize for Best Frequent-Flyer Programme. Cathay
Pacific picked up the Best Airport Lounge award again this year.
American Airlines won the award for Best North
American Airline again. Best Chinese Airline went to China
Southern Airlines, while Qatar Airways won Best Middle
Eastern/African Airline and Lufthansa won Best European
Airline.
The honour of Best Business Hotel Brand in the World went
to Grand Hyatt once again marking its seventh consecutive year at
the top, while Shangri-La held on to the title of Best Business
Hotel Brand in Asia-Pacific and Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong again
took home the award for Best Business Hotel in the World. At the same
time, the Best Business Hotel in Asia-Pacific this year was again
taken by event host Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
Ascott remains undefeated in the category of Best Serviced Residence Brand in Asia-Pacific, having held the title since 2004 when the award was introduced. Meanwhile, the Best Serviced Residence in Asia-Pacific this year was again voted as Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore.
