Emirates to Introduce Additional Flight Frequencies to Maldives

Emirates will be increasing flight frequency to the Maldives with an additional 3 flights to be operated starting from October 25, 2020. 

In a tweet, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) revealed that Emirates will add 3 more flights to its currently operated 7 weekly flights to the destination making it a total of 10 flights operations per week to Velana International Airport (VIA). 

Along with SriLankan Airlines, Emirates was the second airline to resume passenger flights to the Maldives since the country closed borders on March 27 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline’s first flight since pandemic landed at VIA on July 16 with borders reopened the day prior. 

The airline’s added flights will be operated on the days; Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. 

According to MACL, there are currently 12 international airlines; Aeroflot, Emirates, Qatar Airways, SriLankan Airlines, Etihad Airways, IndiGo, Air India, Edelweiss Air, British Airways, Vistara, and Austrian Airlines.
