Maldivian Begins Scheduled Flights to Ratmalana, Sri Lanka

National Airline Maldivian has commenced flight operations to Colombo International Airport at Ratmalana (CAR), Sri Lanka.  

The arrival flight 50-seater De Havilland Dash-8 was received by a water cannon salute at the airport and passengers were also welcomed with gift packs from the Sri Lanka Tea Board followed by a traditional Kandyan dance performance. 

This operation marks the resume of scheduled international regional flight operations from CAR after five decades. Maldivian will operate three weekly operations between the destinations with plans to increase frequency with passenger demand. 

Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives, Mr Omar Abdul Razzak, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Mr A.M.J Sadig, Minister of Youth & Sports Mr Namal Rajapaksa, State Minister of Aviation and Development of Export Zones Mr D. V. Chanaka and other state ministers and officials attended the event celebrating the reopening of international flights.
