Qatar Airways Adds New Flight to Maldives – 4 Daily Flights Now in Operation

Qatar Airways has commenced operations of an additional flight to the Maldives. With this new service, total flights conducted between the two countries reaches 4.  

From the most recent photos released by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) on Wednesday, all four flights of the airline were seen parked at Velana International Airport. According to MACL, with Qatar Airways’ daily 4 flights to the Maldives, total seat capacity exceeds 1,100. A further increase in tourist arrivals is expected to be seen via the middle eastern airline.  

Currently, Maldives has recorded 163,165 tourist arrivals to the country since borders reopened on 15 July 2020 till December 28. While the overall number of tourists who visited the Maldives in the year 2020 reaches over 546,000. According to the latest updates from the Ministry of Tourism, total 25 airlines have resumed passenger operations to the Maldives.  

The national carrier of the State of Qatar continues to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 100 destinations and plans to increase to 129 by the end of March 2021. With more frequencies being added to key hubs, Qatar Airways offers unrivalled connectivity to passengers, making it easy for them to change their travel dates or destination if they need to.
