Arrivals to Maldives to be quarantined with the exclusion of tourists

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has released a notice to quarantine all passengers traveling to Maldives via air transport except for tourists.

Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru issued the following order as a measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives; All passengers travelling to Maldives by air except for tourists will be quarantined for 14 days at a place designated by the government effective from 21st March 2020 1600 hrs.

Currently, the country is under a State of Public Health Emergency for a period of 30-days. The government has taken further measures to ensure safety by closing down all parks, banning travel between local islands and resorts as well as pausing all study programs at educational institutes. Additionally, dine-ins at Cafes and Restaurants have also been banned.

Two patients previously tested positive for COVID-19 and isolated in a facility have recently recovered. Therefore, out of the total 13 confirmed cases in Maldives, 5 individuals have recovered.
