Following the lead of Rasdhoo View Inn, another guesthouse announces that they are to ban single use plastics. Shallow Lagoon Rasdhoo began their adaption of this environment-friendly practice with the use of glass bottles.

With the rising concern for the number of single-use plastics being used in the country, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih too launches a campaign to minimize the volume. He states, "With more than 280,000 plastic water bottles used daily in the Capital Male alone, the prevalence of plastic such as bags, bottles, and wrappers in the Maldives is at a worrying level."

Along with President Solih, Ministry of Foreign Affairs also chose an alternative to single-use plastic. Minister Shahid launched a campaign to minimize single use plastic in the Maldives Foreign Affairs, as an attempt to protect and preserve the priceless environment the island nation is blessed with.
