Universal Resorts has announced the appointment of Bill Ignatiadis as the new General Manager of Velassaru Maldives.

Bill brings years of global hospitality experience to the resort. Claiming a strong F&B background, he prides himself on building not only strong service culture but ensuring his teams have a can-do attitude towards creating everlasting guest experiences.

Bills previous experience includes working in his home country of Australia for several world-renowned brands such as LVMH, One&Only and AccorHotels. More recently in the Maldives, Bill had numerous senior management posts across three properties with Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts, including Resort Manager at Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives and Cluster General Manager for the groups three properties in Male Atoll.

Velassaru which means 'turtle island offers guests luxurious beachfront and overwater accommodation with uninterrupted ocean views. The contemporary-styled villas and bungalows offer chic serenity, featuring wooden ceilings and floors for a tropical atmosphere.

A wide variety of international specialities are prepared at Velassarus five restaurants including fresh, contemporary seafood, Japanese, international and grill pan Indian options. The two beach bars serve cocktails and wines.

Guests can enjoy relaxing spa treatments in overwater pavilions, or hop on a Maldivian boat and watch the crew demonstrate traditional fishing methods. Other resort facilities include a fitness centre, tennis court and infinity pool with the view of the beach and the ocean.

Velassaru Maldives is located in South Male Atoll and accessible by a short 25-minute speedboat ride from the main Velana International Airport.
