A destination showcase for the Maldives has been held in Mumbai, India, on Friday, May 11, 2018, branded as Maldivian Night.

The event was organised by Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO). More than 200 travel professionals from the two countries attended this exclusive event, hosted at the Four Seasons, Mumbai.

Maldivian Night was presented in part as a business networking event where Maldivian hoteliers and travel agents had an opportunity to meet with more than 150 prominent travel agents and tour operators from India. 8 Maldivian companies took part in the business networking.

"We are really excited about having stepped up Destination Marketing efforts this year. And we look forward to continuing on this branding of events at major travel markets for the Maldives."

"This year so far we have been very loud in our marketing activities in the Asia Pacific region especially in India," Said Abdulla Ghiyaz Riyaz, President of MATATO.

The event concluded with an entertaining evening, to promote and feature Maldives Travel Awards. This event was joined by Indian media and representatives from International travel brands based in Mumbai. Organised as part of destination marketing efforts by MATATO, this event marked the 3rd Travel Trade event lead by MATATO in India in 2018 alone.

This was the first Maldivian Night organised by MATATO in India. A similar event is scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka before the Maldives Awards Gala.

Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO) was found in 2006 by a group of enthusiastic tour operators of Maldives. Currently, the association represents more than 50 travel agents and tour operators in the Maldives. Since 2006, MATATO remains the only travel & tour operators association representing the interests of tour operators in the Maldives.
