WIM Join Hands with MATATO to Host a Special Event Designed for Professional Tourism Marketing

Women in Management (WIM) has partnered up with Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) to host "Making Maldives Tourism more Competitive", a unique program aimed for professional tourism marketing which will be held at TBC on 13th May 2018 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. 


According to WIM, Dr Rohantha Ahtukorala, a transcendental Marketing & Tourism professional will be coordinating the one day program aimed for all who work in the tourism marketing industry such as customer care, airport aviation ticketing, travel agencies, hotel and restaurants, online tourism marketing, travels guilds.


"Operating successful tourism requires ongoing assessments of how marketing resources are allocated relative to meeting the tourism and company financial goals." Reads a Statement by WIM.


"The most wonderful and beneficial destination in the world won't mean a thing concerning your companys financial bottom line if nobody knows about what you are marketing. For this reason, acquiring professional-level marketing skills are a must when it comes to tourism marketing."


Participants can learn about:


'Marketing' a way of life in an office

Selecting the target market 

Practising customer care 

Breakout session 2 and presentation 

Evaluating marketing performance 


Dr Rohantha Ahtukorala is an award-winning marketing professional in Sri Lanka with a 23-year career in top multinational Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser and DiverseyLever.He went on to Head-portfolio development theUnited States (UNOPS) in Sri Lanka and the Maldives which earned a global  "Best Project Award".


After that, he was appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism where he restructured the entire state entity and developed a global strategy that made Sri Lanka attract 1.8 million travellers and three billion dollar income.


He has also been the Chairman of Sri Lanka Export Development Board and is currently a Board Director of Hamas Leisure Aviation Group. Dr Rohantha is also an Alumni of Harvard Executive Leadership and PR Chair for Rotary-Sri Lanka and Maldives.
