With two resorts in the South Ari Atoll (Diamonds Thudufushi and Diamonds Athuruga), Diamonds Resorts Maldives values giving back to the local community, especially to neighbouring islands. In that mindset, Diamonds Thudufushi created a fundraiser for the nearby Mandhoo School through various activities.

The island of Mandhoo, mostly known to Diamonds Resorts guests as the famous "Fisherman Island", welcomes the resorts guests during one of the excursions and allows them to have a peak into the Maldivian local lifestyle. Diamonds Thudufushi is grateful to have the chance to offer this cultural activity to their guests and it therefore felt natural to give back to this special place.

To achieve its fundraising goal, Diamonds Thudufushi souvenir t-shirts were for sale and the resort organised various beach volleyball tournaments in which both guests and employees happily participated to help the cause. The funds collected allowed the resort to buy five computers to help contribute to the education of the islands children.

On Tuesday March 13th, 2018, Mr. Thomas Weber, General Manager for Diamonds Resorts Maldives, accompanied by members of the Diamonds Thudufushi management team, visited the island of Mandhoo to officially hand over the computers to the school. Mr. Thomas and his team received a warm welcome from the children, teachers and parents, including a flower necklace and a fresh coconut on arrival. The team then visited the school and learned about the different educational tools and goals the school has. Mr. Thomas also offered a motivational speech to the children to encourage them to have dreams and pursue their education to achieve them.

Diamonds Thudufushi is proud to have contributed to the local education and strives to continue giving back to the community. The resort would like to extend a grateful thank you to all guests and employees who have contributed to this special project, without whom it would not have been possible. Best of luck to all the Mandhoo School students in the pursue of their dreams and education.
