Villa College has been considered in the top of the list for training PADI Professionals in Maldives and "15yrs of Outstanding Service."

The college was honoured with an appreciation plague recognising services of the institution in educating and developing PADI certified marine enthusiasts during the PADI Member Forum held at Maafushi last Sunday.

Dr Shama Hameed from Faculty of Marine Studies at Villa College and The First PADI Course Director of Maldives Mr Hussain Rasheed (Sendi) joined the function to receive the plaque of appreciation.

Villa College has been a member of PADI since 2003 and has been training marine industry professionals for over 15 years.

The College offers several PADI certifications ranging from open water diving to dive master training. The diving facilities of Villa College established in the Knowledge Village Campus in Sun Island Resort and Spa are amongst the best in the country. The diving facilities and programmes have international appeal, and hence students from Europe are regularly enrolled in these programmes.

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) is a recreational diving membership and diver training organisation founded in 1966 by John Cronin and Ralph Erickson.[Cronin was originally a NAUI instructor who decided to form his own organisation with Erickson, and to break diver training down into several modular courses instead of the single universal course then prevalent.

PADI courses range from minimal entry level to relatively advanced recreational diver certification, several specialised diving skills courses, usually connected with specific equipment or conditions, some diving related informational courses and a range of recreational diving instructor certifications. They also offer various technical diving courses. As of March 2017 PADI is reported to have issued 25 million scuba certifications.
