Travel Trade Maldives Fair 2018 Officially Inaugurated at Bandos Island Resort

The Travel Trade Maldives Fair 2018, an international trade fair organised by Maldivian PR company Maldives Getaways has been officially inaugurated at Bandos Island Resort with its first event, the TTM Hotelier Summit last Monday.


The TTM Hotelier Summit was launched by Maldivian Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed, who noted the modernisation and introduction of new methods to the Maldivian tourism industry.


Pointing out the plan to build the first underwater residence in the world in the Maldives, Minister Saeed said the introduction of such new concepts was evidence of the growing trust of investors in the Maldivian tourism industry.


Secretary-General of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and Director at Crown Company, Ahmed Nazeer (Crown Nazeer), who also spoke at the inauguration, said he projected a bright future for the Maldivian tourism industry, and that any challenge can be overcome through discussion between industry stakeholders.


Main topics of discussion of the Hotelier Summit, which was held last Monday included safety and security of Chinese tourists in the Maldives, Maldivian governments tourism policy, airport and air travel, destination marketing, hotel revenue and hotel automation.




Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) signed as the Platinum Partner and Yanmar as the Official Engine. Al Shaali Marine Maldives, Allied Insurance, Ooredoo Maldives and Fuel Supplies Maldives signed as Gold Partners, while M7 Print, Maldives Airports Company Limited, Maldivian, Laniakea Tech, State Trading Organisation and LinkServe signed as Silver Partners for TTM 2018. 


A total of over 100 hoteliers will exhibit at TTM 2018, which has been endorsed and backed by Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB), Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Association of Travel Agents (ATA), making it the premier travel trade show of the country.


Components of the TTM Fair will continue from 1st May till tomorrow.The components include meetings between business owners and hoteliers, the Maldives Supplier Expo, and the TTM Gala.


TTM 2018 Gala Night is set to be held on the 2nd of May 2018 from 6 pm to 11 pm at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi. The Gala event will feature a classy dinner with rich and exotic Maldivian tastes, live music by leading artists the opportunity to network with the highest executives, decision-makers and market shapers of the industry.


The 2nd "Tourism Career Fair" will be held during TTM at Dharubaaruge on 3rd of May 2018. Much like last year, the career fair is an excellent opportunity for students/professionals to meet and network with tourism industry representatives in the Maldives. The career fair will be held from 20:00 23:00 at Dharubaaruge, Male Maldives.


TTM aims to facilitate the tourism industry of Maldives to reach the ultimate target of 2 million tourists with over USD 3.5 billion in receipts by the end of 2020. More than 300 hoteliers, suppliers, related industries and travel industry professionals from the Maldives and abroad are expected to visit TTM to network, negotiate and discover the latest industry opinion and trends in the Maldives.
