New Ensis Factory Near Completion

Ensis Fisheries has announced that their new factory worth US$ 20 million is nearing completion.


According to Ensis Fisheries the factory, once in operation will be able to process and can around 25 tons of fish. This will facilitate expansion into US and European markets and boost the amount of fish purchased from fishermen.


 A 1,500 MT of cold storage capacity is included in the factory, which has full certifications, including BRC, halal, kosher, ISO 22000 and Marine Stewardship Council, Friend of the Sea and Dolphin Safe chain of custody.




The factory, located in Hulhumale is scheduled for an official opening in September this year.The company signed an agreement with Hulhumale Development Corporation (HDC) back on August 6, 2015.


Ensis is a major tuna processing company based in the Maldives and founded in 1996. The company processes and exports fresh and frozen tuna to the international market. Ensis is committed to environmentally responsible fishing practices and primarily source their tuna from local one-by-one fishers (pole-and-line and handline tuna fisheries).
