Maldives National University Library Introduces the First Local Database in Maldives

Maldives National University Library(MNUL) has  introduced "Saruna" , the first digital repository of Maldives National University(MNU)  


The repository  which was developed by MNUL, was launched by Minister of Defence & National Security Hon. Mr. Adam Shareef Umar at a ceremony held at The Maldives National University.


According to MNU, the website will be freely accessible for everyone and will provide information about the researchers and students on top of knowledge about the tradition, economics and social environment of the Maldives.



 

The website includes podcasts, thesis made by students of MNU, scanned copies of historical books, magazines published by MNU, academic articles as well as articles relating to the local language of the Maldives and photos relevant to Maldives.


The Maldives National University Library (MNUL) is the main academic library and the one and only university library in the small island developing state of the Maldives. The library is made up of seven branch libraries and caters to the university community located in Malé and three smaller campuses in the outer regions of the country. 


The Maldives National University (MNU) is a university in the Maldives that promotes Islamic Dhivehi traditions and values. The university's mission statement is "To create, discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge that are necessary to enhance the lives and livelihoods of people and essential for the cultural, social and economic development of the society so that this nation shall remain free and Islamic forever."
