Southern Area Of Kaashidhoo Island To Be Leased For Tourism Purposes

The southern area of Kaashidhoo Island has been placed on the tourism ministrys list of regions available for lease.


According to the ministrys announcement made on Tuesday, the ministry stated that 200,000 square feet from the southern area of Kaashidhoo has been added to the list which includes includes information on all islands and lagoons which are to be leased for tourism purposes.


The announcement  also noted the acquisition cost estimated for the project is MVR 15 million.


Kaashidhoo is one of the inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll.It is located at the northern tip of Malé atoll and is the fifth biggest island in the entire Maldivian archipelago. Kaashidhoo is well known for its wealth in coconut trees.


Kaashidhoo is included in the Malé Atoll. However it is an atoll by itself geographically. For the ease of administration the island is placed under Kaafu Atoll.
