Three Renowned Chefs From Maldives to Take Part in Asian Pastry Cup 2018

Three acclaimed chefs from Maldives are set to travel to Singapore and represent the island nation for the first time at the Asian Pastry Cup, one of the biggest competitions for pastry chefs in Asia held from April 24 to 25 at the Singapore Expo during Food & Hotel Asia 2018.


Chef Aminath Hameed from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Chef Ibrahim Fareed from Soneva Fushi Resort along with Chef Indra Kumar Limbu from Hulhule Island Hotel will formulate The Maldives Team to compete at this unique live competition which pits pastry chefs against one another, culminating in a display of the most delightful and beautiful pastry creations.

Two chefs from each team will compete and create their pastry masterpieces at Asian Pastry Cup while the third chef will be a jury member who will be part of the judging team, led by the founder of the World Pastry Cup, Gabriel Paillasson. Associated with the "Club Coupe du Monde", the Asian Pastry Cup is the official selective platform in Asia, to the World Pastry Cup in Lyon.




The Asian Pastry Cup strives to:


– Ignite creativity and interest in this culinary art


– Raise the Pastry Industry status in the region


– Provide a platform for communication and education among pastry enthusiasts in Asia


– Promote the best Asian Pastry Chef of the year from all over Asia


Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) together with Maldives Exhibition and Conference Services (MECS) believes in invigorating the skills of the Local Chefs in the Maldives and has taken this initiative to Sponsor the Team to the Asian Pastry Cup.  MECS and BBM have also sponsored Chefs to various other competitions in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong in the past.


BBM & MECS also takes very keen interest to impart knowledge, skills and latest techniques to the Chefs in the Island Nation and has conducted a series of Masterclass Workshops by the top most figures in the Culinary World such as award winning Michelin Star Chefs, Bocuse dOr Winners, Culinary Olympic Champions and Professors in Gastronomy to name a few.


The Team Maldives were prepared in the latest methods in Pastry as the sponsors conducted a Special Training Program in early March this year, at Pastry Kitchen of Hulhulé Island Hotel. This 4 day training was conducted by Award Winning Pastry Chef Leslie Teong and World Renowned Chef Alan Palmer.
