Air France to Introduce 787-9 Dreamliner Aircraft for its Flight Operations to Maldives

Air France has announced that the airline will be expanding its flight operations for Maldives sector during winter 2018/19 season by replacing its Boeing 777-200ER jet with a new 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.


According to Air France, the airline has already filed operational changes for its seasonal Maldives service for winter 2018/19 season and starting from 1st November 2018 , the two weekly Paris Male' flights will be operated by the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. In addition he airline is set to introduce 3rd weekly rotation from December 10, operating on Mondays from Paris and Tuesdays from Male', 


Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft can accommodate 290 passengers over 14,140 km, yet with the same 20 percent better fuel and emissions, allowing airlines to grow routes first opened by the 787-8.


The 787 cabin is wider than that of the airplanes it replaces, so passengers enjoy more personal space, both physically and visually. With the largest windows on any jet, the windows also dim at the touch of a button, allowing passengers to look outside when they wish and still maintain a dimmed cabin when appropriate.


Air France started operating direct flights to the Maldives in November 2017 and currently operates two weekly flights to Velana International Airport. France is an important source market for the Maldives tourism industry.


According to officials figures, last years arrivals from France observed increase of just four percent than the year before.However, arrivals from France have seen an increase of 23.5 percent in the first two of this year.
