International Food Franchises Pizzahut, Gloria Jeans Coffee, Burger King and Coffee Club Now Open in Male City

A pavilion built on Rasfannu beach at the western side of Male has been opened with an outlet of the Australian coffee shop franchise Gloria Jeans.


First Lady Fathmath Ibrahim inaugurated the pavilion at a ceremony featuring fireworks and speeches by ministers and the head of the Malé Water and Sewerage Company.The state-owned MWSC awarded the Rasfannu beach pavilion development to Sibco Pvt Ltd, which won the bid in August last year.




The pavilion was unveiled after the opening of the Pizza Hut last week, which became the most high-profile fast-food chain outlet to launch in the capital to date. Long queues were seen outside when it opened doors Thursday morning.


Burger King and Coffee Club outlets operated by a subsidiary of Thailands Minor International have also been opened up for business on the first floor of the Hulhumalé ferry terminal. But the official opening is reportedly due to take place at a later date.




According to Gamma Island Foods, a joint venture company that operates Pizza Hut in the Maldives, the countrys first KFC outlet would also open soon at the ground floor of the Malé Square apartment complex. Pizza Hut and KFC outlets by Italys HMS Host International are also to debut at the international airport.


In 2017 The Pizza Company outlet was opened in Male Grand, While Marry Brown and Secret Recipe has been operated by Lily International for sometime. Meanwhile, a Manhattan Fishmarket outlet was open in Hulhumale and Barista Coffee was also opened in Male. 


In addition to International top brands operating in Maldives, regional food brands such as Dinemore, Jam Roll Ice Cream and Calorie Counter has also been seeking out popularity amongst the vast population of the Maldives.
