Hondaafushi Island Resort, developed by AAA Hotels and Resorts has officially opened its door to guests early this month, gaining the title of the first resort to open in the northern Haa Dhaal atoll.

The resort measures two kilometres in length and 500 metres in width and features a total of 80 rooms which are categorised in to Superior Beach Bungalows and Delux Beach Bungalows. 

Superior Beach Bungalows are modernly outfitted and measure 75 square metres, while the spacious Deluxe Beach Bungalows measure 89 square metres. Both villa categories have semi-open bathrooms, and are furnished with air-conditioning, digital TV, phone, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar and an in-room safe. The furnished terrace faces the ocean and serves as an immaculate place to relax.

While there is a main restaurant which serves daily breakfast, lunch and dinner for guests, the four-star resort also features a shared lounge and a bar. The outdoor swimming pool comes with a separate poolside bar.In addition to a spa and wellness centre, guests can choose from a variety of  land and water sport activities such as sailboat cruising,windsurfing, snorkelling, diving to billiards, table tennis and beach volleyball.

Proprietor AAA Hotels & Resorts has announced that the resort will be developed and opened in phases, offering another 100 rooms every year until the 400 rooms are completed. According to Mr. Moosa Shiyam, Director of AAA Hotels & Resort, Hondaafushi will be a 4-star resort but will offer 5-star service to all their visitors.

The island resort is accessible via domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Hanimaadhoo Airport, followed by a 10 minute speed launch ride to the resort.
