Cocoon Maldives has introduced Eco-friendly Bottled Water under the banner campaign of Drink local Water and Lets Go Green, its also part of an on-going commitment to reduce the hotels carbon-footprints.

According to Cocoon the move to produce fresh water bottling service is one of the newest steps towards delivering services with a sound environmentally friendly purpose. The Water Bottling plant of the resort began its operation to produce fresh water, made from desalinated ocean water this March.

"Maldives endeavours to be eco-friendly and strives to protect the rich marine line of the Maldives," said General Manager, Ram Bhoyroo.

"The water in this bottle has been through the unique classic crystal purification system and has a very pleasant taste and lightness."

The Water Bottling plant will produce around 3000 litres of drinking water every day including both still and sparkling varieties which in turn reduces amount of importation and usage of plastic water bottles.

The water is served to guests in glass bottles which are then returned to the bottling plant for washing and re-filling, saving the resort from disposing about 350,000 plastic bottles each year. This adds another milestone to Cocoon in achieving the heights of being an environmentally friendly resort.

Designed by renowned Italian firm LAGO, Cocoons minimal interiors complement with furniture made from 200-year-old wildwood defer to the overwhelming beauty of the surrounding marine environment and lush green vegetation that envelope the whole island.

The resort also features an expansive reception pavilion, a dive centre, a spa, a lounge, library, gym and kids club, in addition to 150 villas on the beach or poised on stilts in the lagoon.
