The owners of one of the most leading local resort operators in the Maldives Crown and Champa has opened Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumalé, the first private, state-of-the-art tertiary institution in the country.

With up to 210 inpatient beds, a wide range of specialised services, accessible to locals, expatriates and tourists, the medical centre is benchmarked to international quality standards and is a major step toward providing quality healthcare to those who need it.

Patients will be able to receive advanced healthcare services locally, which is set to significantly reduce the amount and costs of outbound travels to neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka, India and Thailand for treatments, while also increasing the opportunity for medical tourism in the Maldives.

"After three or four years, we will be all set to court medical tourists,"  Said Ahmed Saleem, Tree Top Hospital Shareholder.

The world-class facilities include Oncology & Dialysis Centers, an Intensive Care Unit, departments for Radiology, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, and various laboratories fitted with modern machinery. The variety of services provided includes Accident and Emergency care, Open Heart Surgery led by Dr. Roland Fasol, Neurology, Pediatrics and Psychology, as well as General Practice.

The 6-story Tree Top Residences developed next to the hospital offers suites for patients and visiting families, restaurants, retail stores and accommodation for staff.

Management of Tree Top Hospital has been awarded to Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care, a joint venture between Australia-based Ramsay Health Care and Malaysia-based Sime Darby Healthcare.
