The Acting Managing Director of Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Mr. Haris Mohamed has met with the Executive Members of Equatorial Travel & Tourism (ETTA) during  his recent visit to Addu, the most Southern Atoll of the Maldives.

During the meeting which was held at Equator Village Resort, Mr.Haris shared his ideas, views  and implications of promoting and marketing of Maldives as a destination.

The ETTA  is a non governmental organisation which was formed last month with the intention of promoting and marketing tourism Southern Region of the Maldives and to help stakeholders of the tourism sector overcome the issues they face in daily operations. 

An initiative of the Addu City Council, ETTA  has Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq as the advisor and consists of seven board members who would act independently despite the associations close affiliations with the council

Mr. Mohamed Waheed, the manager of Equator Village was elected as the President of the organisation while Abdulla Thoyib who operates "Aquaventure" dive center in Addu was given the position of the Deputy President .Misbaah Nazeerm, the creator of "Discover Addu," a private initiative that promotes and markets Addu atoll was named the Secretary General.

ETTA  will closely collaborate and function with the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Cooperation (MITDC), Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and other tourism related bodies in the country.
