Kuredu Resort Maldives has announced opening of a Marine Centre in order to continue to help conserve, protect and understand the natural environment the resort is situated in.

Established in cooperation among the resort, Prodivers and the Olive Ridley Project, and headed up by Sea Turtle Biologist and Educator, Dr. Stephanie Köhnk, the centre is the go-to venue for information on turtles, as well as a research institution whose findings will feed into the important work of the Olive Ridley Project.

"I joined the Olive Ridley Project Team in November 2017 as a Sea Turtle Biologist and Educator. I will be the projects representative in the Lhaviyani Atoll, aiming to combine scientific work with education. I will be studying the sea turtle population of the Lhaviyani Atoll and help retrieve and document ghost nets." Says Dr. Stephanie Köhnk.

"Additionally, I will share information about sea turtles in general, the unique turtle population around Kuredu and the problem of ghost nets in our oceans. I am happy to answer your questions and looking forward to seeing you in the Marine Centre, which is located on Kuredus main avenue. If Im not in the office, Im in the ocean looking for turtles… What a dream job!"

The marine life around Kuredu is incredible, offering the chance for guests to snorkel and dive with amazing fish life, turtles and, during the season, manta rays. Seeing these creatures in their natural environment is a big highlight for many for guests.

The resort is also deemed to have one of the healthiest populations of green sea turtles in the country, and turtles are seen daily in the resorts lagoon areas, as well as on snorkel and dive trips to Kuredu Caves, which is a renowned site where turtles rest, get cleaned and interact.

Kuredu Resort & Spa, Maldives, sits on the northern tip of the Lhaviyani Atoll, a 40 minute seaplane flight from Male. Kuredu Resort & Spa stretches over 3km of pristine white sandy beach, with a large lagoon and house reef providing sanctuary for an abundance of fish and marine life. With just 4 resorts spread across the atoll, Kuredu boasts stunning views across turquoise lagoons and fringing reefs.
