Adaaran Kurimagu - The Biggest Local Management Training Programme

Adaaran Maldives has unveiled the biggest Management Training programme ever as a part of their corporate social responsibility.

The programme called "Adaaran Kurimagu" is one-year training conducted by the Corporate Learning & Development division of Adaaran to train young Maldivians and absorb them into the resorts core operation team. 

The curriculum of Adaaran Kurimagu is made in such a way that by the end of the programme graduates will be brought from their initial positions to the Executive or junior Executive level and to create a succession plan where they will be given an express opportunity to be leaders of the industry in the years to come.


The one-year development course is a very comprehensive one covering 200 hours of theoretical inputs by industry experts and 2300 hours of hands on practical training in all the departments of resort operation. 

This years apprenticeship began on 1st February 2017 and will conclude on 31st January 2018.

The opportunity to take part in the Adaaran Kurimagu was advertised on job Maldives, Adaaran Ungenemaa Hingaa (the official Adaaran L&D Facebook page) and introductory sessions were also held at the University of Maldives. Furthermore, Staff that were already working at Adaaran properties who had shown excellent performance was also given the opportunity to take part.


Participants of the Adaaran Kurimagu were tested through a written test & Viva questions after trialling through 6 interview sessions to attract 10 suitable candidates for the training.

At present, Adaaran Kurimagu consists of a diverse set of students coming from Kaff, Raa, Gaad Dhal, Ha. Aliff & Haa Dhal Atoll. Candidates range from 28 to the youngest being 18 years old.

"The first 6 months they will learn the basic skills in all departments and the balance 6 month will be an intensive on the job training in a selected department. There will be periodical evaluations done and the trainees will have to submit reports on their progress." Said Tharaka Appuhamy, Corporate L&D Manager.

The Atiken Spence has been actively involved in hosting various Associative Development programmes for its employees. Adaaran was also previously recognised for operating a hotel school in 2010 to educate and train young Maldivian's for a number of years. Other programmes include The Adaaran Executive Development programmes, Apprentice programmes in Front office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and the Adaaran Cross Exposure programmes to name a few.
