Maldives has won prestigious position of World's Leading Honeymoon Destination and Worlds leading Dive Destination at the 24th annual World Travel Awards and Indian Ocean's Best Spa Destination at the 3rd annual World Spa Awards held alongside with the World Travel Awards Grand Finale.

The awards were received by the Acting Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), Mr Haris Mohamed at the red carpet event that took place on 10 December  evening, at the incredible JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay in Vietnam, with hundreds of industry leaders from across the region and around the world in attendance.

 Maldives competed against other world class destinations such as Thailand, Hawaii, Mauritius, Australia, Seychelles, USA and UAE for these titles. In addition to the destination awards, the Maldives Tourism Industry also won 10 prestigious awards in various categories during the event.

"Maldives is thrilled and excited to have won these prestigious awards." Said Mr. Haris Mohamed, Speaking from the ceremony.

"Winning these awards shows the visitors admiration to what the Maldives has to offer. We must work hard to retain and maintain our position globally."

World Travel Awards brand is renowned as the Oscars of the travel industry and is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Winning these awards will indeed enhance the image of the destination as a high profile luxury destination. Furthermore, winning of the awards indicates the visitors' love and confidence towards the Maldives.
